Alan Young's exhibition Extra Sensory responds to the unique social and geographical features o f the Western Tasmanian mining town of Queenstown. The project was initiated by fellow artist Raymond Arnold who runs LARQ, a studio and gallery designed to encourage artists to connect with the colonised wilderness. Young's raw and colourful paintings demonstrate often humorous but critical observations on everyday life and social interactions. His work is held in numerous public and private collections, including the Museum of Old and New Art and the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery.
